Managed TAK Server Hosting — OpenTAKServer | Team, Group & Network Plans

$15.00

SKU: D47-TAKHOST-TEAM

Tier

ATAK on its own only knows what's on the device in your hand. Put two phones on two different networks — one on LTE, one on a home Wi-Fi a county away — and they can't see each other. No shared map, no chat, no markers. A TAK server sits in the middle and fixes that: every device connects to it, and everything one user puts on the map reaches the rest of the team.

Running one yourself means a VPS, a domain, TLS certificates, firewall rules, updates, backups, and someone to fix it when it stops answering at 2 a.m. This service hands you the server and keeps all of that off your plate.

PLANS

Plans are sized by how many members your server has. Pick the tier that matches the number of user accounts on your server.

  • Team — 1 to 5 members. $50 onboarding, then $15 per month. Video streaming and voice calling are not supported on this plan.
  • Group — 6 to 20 members. $50 onboarding, then $20 per month. Includes video streaming and voice calling.
  • Network — 21 to 50 members. $50 onboarding, then $40 per month. Includes video streaming and voice calling.

Your first payment is the $50 onboarding fee on every plan, and it covers your first month. The monthly fee starts with your second month.

WHY MORE MEMBERS COSTS MORE

A server's work grows with the people on it. Every connected device sends its position and receives everyone else's, so 20 members means far more traffic than 5. Video streams, voice calls and hosted data — data packages, maps, photos and mission files — each take processor time, memory, bandwidth and storage, and that load adds up per user. Larger tiers run on a server sized to carry it, so the map stays responsive when everyone is on at once.

WHAT IT COSTS

  • $50 onboarding, one time — we build, configure and secure your server and set up your district47.dev address. This is your first payment and covers your first month.
  • Monthly fee by tier, from month two — $15, $20 or $40 for hosting, management, security, updates and support.
  • Change tiers any time. Growing past your tier's member count, or need video and voice on the Team plan? Contact us and we'll move you up.
  • Need more than 50 members? Contact us and we'll size a server for you.
  • No contract. Cancel any time. Billing stops at the end of the month you cancel.
  • Your data after you cancel: we keep your server and its data for 30 days, so you can come back or export what you need. Want it wiped immediately instead? Tell us and it's gone.

WHAT YOU GET

  • Your own dedicated OpenTAKServer instance — not a shared channel on someone else's server.
  • Your own server address on district47.dev — for example yourteam.district47.dev — set up and kept current by us.
  • TLS certificates installed and renewed, so devices connect over an encrypted link.
  • Full admin access. You control users, groups and data — through the web Admin Console or the Server Manager plugin inside ATAK, provided at checkout.

OPENTAKSERVER FEATURES

  • Connects ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Aware, CloudTAK, TAKX and PyTAK clients
  • SSL/TLS connections with client certificate enrollment — users sign in from the app, no manual cert shuffling
  • Live position sharing across every connected device
  • Chat, points, routes and images sent to the whole team or a group
  • Groups / channels to split one server between teams
  • Data Packages — push KMZ overlays and files to everyone at once
  • Mission API with Data Sync
  • Alerts and CasEvac reports
  • Video streaming and voice calling (Group and Network plans only)
  • ATAK plugin update server — keep every device on the same plugin versions
  • Web Admin Console with a live map of your team
  • Message history saved to the server database

WHAT WE HANDLE

  • Server hosting, uptime monitoring and restarts
  • Security hardening, firewall, and OS + OpenTAKServer updates
  • Your district47.dev address and TLS certificate renewals
  • Help with any question or issue related to your server — connecting devices, enrolling users, fixing a client that won't connect

WHAT YOU CONTROL

  • Who has accounts, and who gets removed
  • Groups, channels and who sees what
  • Data packages, missions and everything your team puts on the map

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Pick your tier and server address, and check out.
  2. We build and secure your server and send your server address, admin login and connection guide.
  3. Your users enroll from ATAK, WinTAK or TAK Aware with a username and password.
  4. Manage it yourself from the Admin Console or the Server Manager plugin. Submit a support ticket from the plugin whenever something isn't working.
iPhone users: use TAK Aware. It connects to OpenTAKServer cleanly and handles data packages. iTAK can connect but doesn't handle embedded data packages well, so we don't support it.

FIELD NOTES

Every device still needs a data connection — cell, Wi-Fi or satellite — to reach the server. If your area has no coverage, a server can't change that; look at our mesh and radio kit for off-grid links. Federation with other TAK servers isn't supported by OpenTAKServer yet. This is an independent service built on open-source software and is not affiliated with the U.S. government or the official TAK Product Center.
